The blog finally got a makeover! I am SO excited about the new chalkboard design! The design is by Kathy at Nudge Media (found her on Etsy of course!) who was awesome to work with & was able to put exactly what I had in my mind onto the page! Turns out the "Due February 22" banner really over stayed it's welcome! :)
We're not only rocking new chalk on the blog, but also in the kitchen!
I am loving all the Halloween decor around the house, sad it's almost
time to take it down, BUT cannot wait to go Clark W. Griswold style on this
place very soon.... including Harper's nursery!
While on the topic of new additions to the blog, let me present to you, the BOOs & the BOOMs! :) My husband pointed out the other day that I often have a one word initial reaction to almost everything he tells me. BOO (insert sad face) if it's something I don't like.... and BOOM! if it's something that makes me happy. Turns out, he was right. So I thought it might be something fun to incorporate into my ramblings on a weekly basis! Hope you like :)
The BOOs
Does everyone else's baby turn into a bucking bronco during diaper changes? I shit you not, I was changing Harper's diaper the day, and the kid literally flipped herself over while I was holding onto her ankles, and all of a sudden I am wheel-barrowing her poop-caked butt across the pack-n-play. Holy hot mess. Someone please tell me this is just a phase......?
Also, Brandon made a bomb homemade chili on Sunday (he's always wanted to be known as the guy who makes bomb chili). It was delicious... topped with tater tots & cheese... and very spicy. I didn't realize quite how spicy it was until I accidentally inhaled a bite and it came out my nose when Harper-the-teething-wild-child BIT MY BARE FOOT while I was taking a bite. Anklebiter - 1, Mom - 0.
The BOOMs
The Halloween book Goodnight Goon
(recommended by many readers) which might be the most hilarious kids book of all time. For those of you who read Goodnight Moon to your munchkins, this is a must have. We crack up reading this to her at night now... not sure I'll even go back to the original. Who am I kidding, we already watch Hocus Pocus all year long, so I guess we all know the answer to that.
Lastly, I can't get enough of this kitty hat. Obviously by the look on her face, she certainly can.
Kitty Hat from Gap (last season, First Favorites Onesie, Polka Dot Leggings, Ugg Bixbee Booties

looks GREAT!
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting to see the new blog look! Absolutely awesome!!

ReplyDeleteOh.my.goodness. My little guy was born February 4th of this year and he too is such a PAIN to change!! Doesn't matter if it's a quick diaper change, pj change or just trying to put his outfit on for the day, he is a flailing banshee. I actually dread changing him becaue he is so super wiggly and STRONG! It's getting hard to hold his ankles up because he can Batman roll pretty good. Most of the time I have to sing to him in a silly voice so he'll lay still. *Sigh*...here's to hoping it's just a phase!!!
ReplyDeleteAmanda
Must get Goodnight Goon!! Another hilarious parody of Goodnight Moon is Goodnight iPad. Love it! :)

ReplyDeleteLol the chalkboard theme is so you obviously. perfect choice. I just watched Hocus Pocus on ABC family the other night, it was on twice :) I feel like they aren't playing traditional halloween movies this year, that was the first one I saw!! I wish I knew how to make my blog look awesome :( I'm not very computer smart.

Love the new blog design! Yes, the bucking bronco diaper changes are only for a season.....until they start taking off their own poopy diaper and smearing it on the wall ;) Then you'll be begging for "bucking bronco" days.. lol!
ReplyDeleteOh the chili Boo literally made me laugh so hard that my nine month pregnant belly hurts now! I have had puppies and kittens and even birds bite my feet but never a baby! I can't wait for my little guy to be here and try out all your awesome suggestions!

I love the new look! Thank you for continuing to blog about everything, I truly enjoy it! And might I add, you have created my chalk board obsession! I'm painting my garage door this weekend!
ReplyDeleteOmg I was cracking up reading the part about Harper moving around so much during diaper changes. Hilarious! My son has recently started doing that too although he's a lot younger than Harper (he's 3 months) so he's not too strong yet. Sometimes he'll manage to get his ankle out of my grasp though and then kick his foot down into the poop/pee/grossness. Ewww, I am also hoping he'll grow out of this. Love the new look of the blog!!
ReplyDeleteLoving the new look! So you..with the chalkboard inspiration and all. it's so nice to have a fresh new design, isn't it! :)

ReplyDeleteI would love to say it is a phase, but for us it hasn't been, our little man is a year old and we still have issues, I hate to change his diaper. We say it is like wrestling a alligator, no joke. My daughter was so opposite, I could leave her on the changing table and walk away and she would not move. Good luck, you have a really cute little girl.
ReplyDeleteOh also a few things that have helped, my friend says she sings to her little guy and that helps her it didn't help me, but we did copy cat noises, or even better I give him a small toy, comb, something small to keep his hands and eyes busy so his legs are not that has been the most helpful, if you haven't tried that.
ReplyDeleteHarper's little outfit is too too adorable! Love the chalkboard design, it is SO appropriate for your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteOur babies had the same due date, but mine was two weeks late! Love reading your blog and laughing at the similarities!
ReplyDeleteOur babies had the same due date, but mine was two weeks late! Love reading your blog and laughing at the similarities!
ReplyDeleteWhat worked for our little guy was the duck they sell at Target you put bags in it when you are out and about. You use the bags for the dirty diapers. I just handed him the duck and as he got older I would just say go get the duck..he would get the duck and a diaper. Another resource I just came across with our baby #2 is Love and Logic and you can use starting about 6 months. Good luck your little Harper is a cutie!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look!
ReplyDeleteSo I went out and bought Goodnight Goon as soon as I read your blog, I left work early to get it. Lol. Goodnight Moon was my favorite book growing up so I always read it to her. Love this new one, it's great.
Congrats on the new design. LOVE!! (<---- insert one word reaction here lol) And my Jack (5 months) wiggles like he's dancing during diaper changes. Cracks me up!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! My little girl is doing the exact same thing with diaper changing! I hope it's just a phase too because it's killing me. I feel like I have to hold her legs down with my feet, her stomach down with one hand and put the diaper on with the other. And yet she still manages to wind up on her stomach part way through. My husband walked in on me the other day part way through the process and said, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO OUR CHILD?!" I said, "Would you like to change her diaper?" He then changed her diaper, and wound up in the same position as me, I was laughing my butt off!
ReplyDeleteI love the new design by the way!

Hahahahaha! You are to funny :) seriously cracking up.
ReplyDeleteWow, LOVE your new blog design! Keep up with the great blogs. I would love to see a blog with some Christmas ideas for little ones, or things you would recommend! I like to start my shopping early and i'm always looking for great ideas and recommendations :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new blog desing. It feels so good to get a brand new look!
ReplyDeleteGood job!
YES on the impossible diaper changes! I have a pacifier, a toy to distract him and one arm across his hips ready to keep him still, but sometimes this is not enough and I just have to let him get up on all fours and try again...and again...and again. I've learned to just put the diaper on as quickly as possible and then readjust it about 10 times until it's on properly. Let's get these kids potty trained already! Haha
ReplyDeleteI love the new site layout! =D
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the rolling over while trying to change their diaper is just a PHASE!! Because my son constaly does that! So far a toy has kept him calm for a couple of seconds just enough to wipe and put on a clean diaper.. lol
ReplyDeleteBy the way Harper is just a doll!and I love the new look on your blog!
You crack me up! The new layout is super cute! That baby is pretty easy on the eyes too. ;) I look forward to your posts. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThe new blog design looks great! Changing both my boys eventually became "wrestling diaper changes"! Sadly it never ended and only got worse...they had some serious moves! Needless to say both were potty trained at 2 1/2 and 2 and they were glorious days :)
ReplyDeleteFound your blog recently and absolutely love following it as I am now 18 weeks pregnant! We are using a small chalkboard that I hold for bump updates! Harper is absolutely adorable and I love reading how your first year of parenting is going.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, I was pregnant when I found it on Pinterest. My daughter Lillian is now 4 months old so I check in since you are a few months ahead of me to see your must haves :) Love the Halloween Pics... too cute. Going to take some of my girl this weekend. But I was wondering what are your favorite books besides Goodnight Goon?
ReplyDeleteLooks fab!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour new layout suits you very well. I read all of your blogs until a number of months ago and came back pleasantly surprised : )
